With the development of modern society and economy, our living standards are rising, While we are also facing many new global challenges: air pollution, water pollution, food security, income inequality, aging population and other issues, which not only pose a threat to human physical and mental health and social harmony, but also hinder the lasting and prosperity of the entire world. 

 

According to statistics, the population of post 2000 has already account for nearly 50% of the global workforce and will create about $40 trillion in wealth in the next few decades. The millennials are the key drivers of change as the largest group of workers and major consumers in today's society.

On August 13, 2018, the China Advocacy Team of B Corps was honored to be invited by AIESEC China to participate in the Forum of Young Public Thinkers of the Second International Youth Congress. Through this event, the China Advocacy Team of B Corps, not only helps many young people to open up their minds and realize the trend of using business power to solve social and environmental problems, but also motivates them to give full play to their talents and make the world a better place through business

 

The Overview of Forum

The Forum of Young Public Thinkers of the Second International Youth Congress was held on August 13 from 14:30 to 17:00 in the Jasmine Hall 6 of the Convention and Exhibition Center. The Forum was co-hosted by the organizers of the conference and AIESEC China, and attended by about 300 participants.

 

Through in-depth exchanges and discussions among youth leaders, experts and scholars, the Forum aims to understand the current situation of youth participation in public welfare undertakings in various countries, to make youth understand the value and importance of youth participation in public welfare undertakings, and to discuss difficulties and challenges encountered and solutions.

 


 

Opening

In the opening session of the Forum, the Chairman of AIESEC China introduced AIESEC to the guests that AIESEC is a global platform to help young people explore and develop their leadership potentials and a non-political youth organization run independently by students and fresh graduates of institutions of higher learning.

 

Every member of AIESEC is concerned with global social issues, leadership and management development. AIESEC China has been contributing to the development of China's future public welfare industry, and has launched four national public welfare projects: Dare to Dream, Green Power Now Green Action, Explore China and Special Care, focusing on children's education equity, sustainable environmental protection, cultural exchanges and special population areas, with social impact covering 20 + cities and regions.

 


 

Speech

In his keynote address on "Examples of Public Welfare Projects for Excellent Youth", WYCI representative Wang Kai proposed that young people should learn more about and participate in social development issues, so as to stimulate young people to propose innovative solutions to different social issues and firmly believe that this generation of young people can build a better world.


Then Wang introduced the China Youth Initiative Program, and listed several young entrepreneurs selected to participate in it, as well as their public-spirited entrepreneurial projects from different fields such as sex education, experiential learning, intelligent dormitory, natural science education and so on

In the keynote speech entitled "The Together-Benefiting Enterprise Wave", Director Ko Min Han of B Corps China TF Together-Benefiting Enterprise Advocacy Team mainly introduced the development course of Together-Benefiting Enterprise and the development and certification of Together-Benefiting Enterprises nationwide, indicating that the Together-Benefiting Enterprise Wave has arrived in China.

 

Many social and environmental problems, such as air pollution, income inequality and an ageing population, cannot be tackled by government departments and non-profit organizations alone, Min Ko says. They require the participation of business. She says more and more people are trying to use business as a force for solving social and environmental problems-one of the most important trends in society. In her view, Together Business is not only a new business model that balances profit and social goals, but also contributes to building a more inclusive, sustainable economy and society driven by social and environmental impact.

 

In the keynote speech "Making Education Change the Future", Dong Jiajia, Vice President of Products of SKT Scott Education in Shenzhen, China's first joint-benefit enterprise in the field of education, talked about the understanding of the talent demand and education mode in the 21st century. She proposed the purpose of making education vivid and life blooming, and the various educational projects they are doing have received support from all walks of life.


In the keynote speech entitled "Examples of Public Welfare Entrepreneurship Projects", Wang Xin, senior business manager of Shenzhen Enpai Non-profit Organization Development Center and responsible person of South China District, analyzed the predicament faced by the youth public welfare industry, and gave positive and strong encouragement to the public welfare people's persistence and dedication.

 


 

Round Table Dialogue

During the "round-table dialogue" session, several guests interacted enthusiastically with the audience, and discussed the development trend of youth public welfare, and in view of this trend, discussed how to improve the talent training system.


 

Closing


Through in-depth exchanges and discussions among young leaders, experts and scholars, the Forum will enable young people to understand the current situation of youth participation in public welfare undertakings in various countries, understand the value and importance of youth participation in public welfare undertakings, and discuss the difficulties and challenges encountered in the process and their solutions.
